The “first string offense” poses for the yearbook of South Georgia College in Douglas, Georgia. Who knows? Maybe a scout will look at the year book. Any opportunity to get a scholarship and get enough help to complete their education provided small junior colleges with just enough athletes to “field” a team each year. This offense with their ragged uniforms sent five players to Duke, Georgia, Florida and Georgia Tech. The unpainted pine board fence and the piney woods provided children with the chance to see a “college game” by peeking through the slats or climbing the trees.
